San Carlos Blog Celebrates Its 3rd Anniversary

July 14, 2010

With over 300 articles, 260,000 page downloads, over 1,000 comments and three very long years of hard work, I am pleased to announce the third anniversary of the premiere of the San Carlos Blog. I am deeply humbled by its success and forever grateful for those of you who take the time out of your hectic schedules to stop by the site every now and then.  I sincerely appreciate it.
Early in my real estate career I started to realize that there were some major gaps between San Carlos residents, their community and the real estate market.  The information that was being broadcast to residents was, for the most part, static websites without any type of interactive abilities.  San Carlos was in need of some type of interactive forum for a few reasons (1) San Carlos has a hypersensitive real estate market.  Things can change in a hurry.  Being able to note these changes on a weekly basis was crucial; and (2) San Carlos is a close community and everyone likes to (a) know what is going on, and (b) be able to offer their input or perhaps read different opinions.
I created the San Carlos Blog to immediately fill these two gaps.  You may have noticed that I try to alternate a real estate article for every community article.  Along the way we have added podcasts, interviews, contests and community postings.  Over the last three years I have received many questions about the blog.  Below are some things you may not know about the three year history:
Q.  Which article has generated the most hits in a single day?
A. This may come as a surprise, but the article announcing that Bianchini’s had been awarded the old Bell Market/Pepper Tree location on Laurel Street generated over 800 hits in just under 4 hours.
Q.  What are the three most downloaded articles/pages on the blog?
A. (1) The Different Areas of San Carlos; (2) Howard Park vs. White Oaks; (3) Top 10 Best San Carlos Streets
Q.  Which category has received the most comments that I could not publish due to a violation of the terms and conditions?
A. This is an easy one.  The category on Town restaurant. It was published two years ago, but I still get comments on it.  Without going into too much detail, let’s just say that the bar scene is discussed in terms that some may not find amusing.
Q.  Which article did I take the most heat for writing and endorsing?
A. Another easy one.  My support of Measure U last year did not sit well with some.
Q.  What’s up next for the San Carlos Blog?
A. Big plans.  You can expect a video component which will be kicked off by the end of summer.  Additionally, the San Carlos Blog is going to be combined with a new site that will be released in late Fall.  Stay tuned for all of the details!
Thank you again for taking the time to visit the San Carlos Blog.

Way to go Bob! I enjoy your blog and learning how my former hometown is doing since moving away over 40 years ago.
