The Best of San Carlos 2010 was derived from variety of factors including reviews, blog reader submissions and community feedback. The businesses listed below are in no particular order:
Best San Carlos Lunch Restaurants
The Refuge. This always packed Laurel Street restaurant is a hit for San Carlos.  For more information, please visit them online by clicking here.
Gracie’s Delectables. This popular sandwich shop at Arroyo and Laurel was once the best kept secret in San Carlos for lunch……to view Gracie’s on yelp, please click here.
Santorini. Offering casual Greek dining, this place is always filled for lunch and dinner.  Location is 753 Laurel Street.  Click here for their website.
The Best San Carlos Dinner Restaurants
Town. It is the anchor of north Laurel Street.  Reservations needed almost every night.  Simply the best in San Carlos. Visit their website by clicking here.
Spasso. Has steadily built a loyal client base in San Carlos. Service oriented, involved in the community…..they get it.  Visit their yelp reviews by clicking here.
Piacere. Helped solidify Laurel Street, along with Town, long before it was trendy. Piacere does quite a bit of business from out of San Carlos residents as well. Click here for their website.
The Best San Carlos Nightlife
Town. Still the most interesting bar scene in San Carlos.
Cask. This new addition was worth the risk.  It’s well run and has gained huge popularity with San Carlos residents. To view the Cask’s yelp page, please click here.
Carlos Club. Recently featured on KRON’s Best of the Bay 2009 Winner’s List, the Carlos Club has become very popular.  View the KRON feature by clicking here.
Community Events
Hometown Days. For the last 30 years, Hometown Days has been a favorite for residents.  To be taken to the 2010 HTD website, please click here.
Concert in the Park. Extremely popular for residents. Taking place in Burton Park on Friday evenings during the summer.  Click here for more info.
Art and Wine Festival. Taking place every October, this popular event takes over downtown San Carlos.  For more info, please click here.
Best Restaurants for Kids
Sneakers Pub & Grill. It’s nice to go into a restaurant and not have to worry about how loud your kids will be.  Sneakers has been reliable for families for a long time.  Click here for more info.
Speederia Pizzaria. It’s fast, easy, ideally located and kids love it.  Click here for more info.
Town. Town makes its third appearance in on the Best of San Carlos in 2010, but their effort toward families with kids can’t go unnoticed.
Best Kids Stores
The Reading Bug. A step above most kids stores.  There is a concerted effort to blend the community with education at this increasingly popular stop for youngsters.  Click here for more info.
Ten Toes. Has become a favorite for San Carlos parents.  Perfect location, and the service is a major plus.  Click here to be taken to their site.
Diddam’s. Wildly popular for kids 2-14.  Something for everyone.
Up-and-Comers
Mack’s Smoked Barbeque. Has gained a very loyal following from those in San Carlos and those who work nearby.  They’ve just moved down the block to a larger space where the old Micha’s BBQ was at 1741 Laurel.  Patio dining opening soon.  More info by clicking here.
Salon Vivo. It’s new and getting rave reviews.  Read them on yelp by clicking here.

As a former San Carlos resident, I was hoping Pup N Hound or maybe The Doll House would make the restaurant list. Ha! Carlos Club for nightlife? Whoa, when I turned 21 eons ago, the Carlos Club was frightening, but I guess things have changed and that’s good. DC

Clearly Bob is a much bigger Town Fan than I realized! Carlos Club is still the best out there! I think Bob needs to spend more time at Carlos Club.

Creamy tomato soup and meat loaf at the Ingleside Cafe on El Camino; just south of Arroyo. Look out Town – this ranks up there with your risitto.
(I’ve even seen Jerry Rice in there.)

Jerry Rice at the Ingleside Cafe? Hmm, I’ve been there for breakfast but haven’t seen any stars there yet….

Maybe you could add a fitness section – I’d love to see Purely Pilates studio mentioned…many of our clients live or work in the San Carlos area and I’m pretty sure they would agree.

PilatesFun,
I think that is an excellent point. In the next “Best Of” we will certainly add this category.
Thanks
Bob
