Brazen Burglaries Continue in and Near White Oaks Area

April 14, 2011

nw20logo
I am always very cautious when posting on issues such as this.  The intent of this post is not to make anyone fearful, but rather alert our readers and their neighbors to be more vigilant regarding their home and neighborhood.  These recent burglaries are brazen and somewhat disturbing considering the amount of surveillance that would need to be in place before someone attempted the burglary.
On Monday,  a home on the 1300 Block of Orange Avenue was burglarized during the mid morning hours.  The burglars apparently slipped into the home through an unlocked window.  They made off with electronics and jewelry.  Another home close to Eaton Avenue and Warwick Avenue, was burglarized in the same way…..an open window in the middle of the day.
The Sheriff’s Department at 600 Elm Street in San Carlos can be reached at (650) 802-4277 with any concerns/tips.

Over the past 2 months we’ve had 4 cars broken into on the 2200 block of Howard. Not sure what to do short of install cameras and do some police work myself.

Warwick Avenue is in Redwood City.

Hi Ben,
Thanks for your comment. We were very careful in choosing the name for this article, citing that the robberies were “In and Near White Oaks”. Warwick obviously touches up against White Oaks at Eaton Avenue and Stanford Lane. Anyway, for those unfamiliar with Warwick, your post is a good clarification.
Thanks
Bob

Have noticed a police presence lately in the WO area. Observed a police officer speaking to 2 individuals walking the White Oak area with backpacks/shoulder bags on this morning near my home. I am grateful to the police for their efforts in keeping us safe and to stop potential burglaries. Thank you.

If you saw Police it was either Redwood City or Belmont. San Carlos no longer has a Police force. San Carlos is contracted out to the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies patrol San Carlos.

A friend of mine’s house on the 300 block of Elm in San Carlos had all the electronic tools stolen from their backyard in the middle of the day WHILE THEY WERE HOME. I know many others that have had their homes broken into over the past few months. Neighbors that are home need to report suspicious activity/persons. I’m also impressed with the ‘new’ police officers that are patrolling San Carlos. I hardly saw a police car go down my block in over ten years, and recently have seen much more police activity in the last couple of months. Don’t be afraid to call if someone looks suspicious in your neighborhood.

Julie,
Police Officers no longer patrol San Carlos, they are San Mateo County Deputies. The Deputies are not “new” in fact some are former San Carlos Police Officers. Your happy that crime has gone up in the last few months and you see Police cars going by your house?
